Asar Residence

Asar Residence is a tropical sanctuary in Kodungallur, Kerala, designed to celebrate a 'rooted tropical lifestyle'. The home is framed by existing mango trees and centers around a majlis-inspired living area and a koi-pond courtyard that serves as its soul. The architecture emphasizes memory and sustainability, incorporating reclaimed elements like a 150-year-old wooden beam, salvaged roof tiles, and traditional colored oxide flooring. Climate responsiveness is built into the form with double-height sloping roofs, insulating air cavities, and Jali walls that filter light while releasing heat. It is a home that evolved naturally, built with Aerocon bricks for superior thermal insulation and left with exposed raw concrete finishes to honor material honesty.
