Project Narrative

A tropical house set amidst lush greenery, designed for a beautiful couple who share a deep love for nature. They imagined a home that embraced the surrounding landscape and gave them the opportunity to grow plants and trees around it. The house is designed to bring in ample wind and natural light, carefully channelled to create a comfortable living environment. A green courtyard connects the living, dining, kitchen areas, and the hallway, becoming the heart of the home. The decision to leave the courtyard open was a nostalgic one, as they wanted to enjoy the rain while sitting in the living room. The palette of the house is earthy, allowing it to blend beautifully with the surroundings and reflect the couple’s love for nature. The informal living space is designed in a traditional thinna style, featuring a large wooden window that adds charm and character. Elements such as the thinna, the reading room window on the first floor, and the jaali brick wall are interpretations of traditional Kerala architecture, thoughtfully adapted into the design.
